Parents Club was first organized over 50 years ago and was known as Mother's Club. Similar to PTA, the Mothers Club met monthly at the Dover and Gilmanton Elementary Schools. Mothers visited their children's classrooms and followed up with a club meeting. Fundraisers were occasionally held to allow for various purchases for the elementary classrooms such as toys and games for recess. For many years, the Mother's Club facilitated the fluoride rinse program in conjunction with the Buffalo County Health Department. In later years, the students often performed a play for their mothers and fathers, and it wasn't long before Mother's Club became known as Parent's Club.
Today, Parents Club is active by sponsoring Dads & Donuts, Moms & Muffins, as well as Grandparents Day (held on the elementary Spring Concert day), an Easter Egg hunt, Halloween Fun Night, Read Across America activities, the end of the year field trip and picnic, and they also provide goodie bags at Christmas!
You don't have to "join" Parents Club! All parents are automatically welcomed. If you are interested in becoming active in the group, please see the contact information below. Together Everyone Achieves More!
Parents Club members work at the ticket stand for home ball games, have a fundraiser each year, and sponsor a Craft & Vendor Fair in the fall/winter.
